OC's battle to a bonus point win over Alcester on Saturday 17th February

A tough match was predicted and so it proved to be. OC's victory 31-15 was well earned in a very entertaining game and eight tries scored on the day.
A number of positional changes today. Han takes the No9 shirt and Sloppy at No10. Alex Telfer moves into the centre from full back which allows Simon Gamble a run out at fullback.
The game starts at a fast pace and Han's feeds to fly half and the charging forwards almost get us to the try line in the first couple of minutes. Alcester manage to relieve to their 30 metre line but Josh kent, Han, Jake Elvidge and Dan Kelly combine before the final charge from Sloppy sees him crash over for the try which Alex Telfer converts
7-0 after 5 minutes.
Alcester put a lot of phases together in our 30 metre area but the defence is superb. OC's have it again and the play moves right through many hands before switching left and Josh Kent is on hand to race the final 15 metres or so for the touchdown in the corner
12-0 after 13 minutes
Alcester are a good side. Their forwards are carrying well and the wingers show good pace but our defence is well coordinated and holds strong at this stage. A lot of attacks from Alcester but a couple of overturns in the rucks temporarily stems the pressure to midfield. Alcester get back with a lineout 5 metres out but it is crooked and OC's win the ensueing scrum and manage to clear their lines. From a lineout midfield Josh Kent, Han, Elliot Sheepy, Josh Soesan combine at pace before feeding Elliot to make the final metres to the try line.
17-0 a few minutes before the break.
OC's fail to collect the Alcester restart kick off and Alcester go straight into attack. An unfortunate knock on denies them a potential score but they rob our lineout to regain posession. Alcester string some play together but the OC defence pushes them back. It's a heck of a battle for the next 20 or so minutes. Bothe sides are stringing plays together but some good work is happening at breakdowns and both teams achieve a number of turnovers. Ther are some very tired bodies out there.
WE are cole to the OC line but OC's win a scrum and run it out on the right. Jack Butler gets the feed and makes it to the Alcester half but the ball is lost in the tackle and Acestertake advantage of the disorganised defence to run it back and score on the right
17-5 after 23 minutes of the second half.
OC's get a lineout overturned on the half way but they regain possession. Josh Soesan makes the initial break and feeds young Jake Elvidge who shrugs off two would be tacklers and shows a clean pair of heels to the retreating Alcester players to storm to the try line. Alex Telfer adds the extras.
24-5 thirty minutes into the second period.
This score didn't dampen the spirit of the Alcester lads. Their heads were still up and a long looping pass from a second row to the left wing brought them a second score just 3 minutes after the OC try.
24-10 after 33 minutes
Another one followed pretty quickly as Alcester cut through a tired defence.
24 -15 with potentially another 10 minutes left. OC's needed to refocus.
Fortunately they did just that and from a scrum Elliot Sheepy fed Han who made a break and recycled to the back line and Jordan Kelly made it with a couple of Alcester defenders in tow. Alex Telfer converted
31-15 the final score. A satisfying performance for players, coaches and spectators. A bonus point win keeps us poised in the table. Unfortunately all the sides above us scored bonus point wins so it is going to be very close come the end of the season. Some outstanding performances today. Han at scrum half was tireless. His speed of delivery, accuracy of pass and his cover defence were great. Jake Elvidge finished off a great performance with his try. It's a shame to single out individuals but someone has to be awarded men of the match.

ABUSE OF MATCH OFFICIALS-SANCTIONS DOUBLED 2016: ALL PLEASE NOTE

Please read and note the latest letter from Warwickshire RFU Disciplinary Committee which sets out increased sanctions. Everyone should read this - not just PLAYERS but SPECTATORS and COACHES as well. PLEASE THINK ABOUT IT: SPECTATORS (you know who you are) BARRACKING FROM THE TOUCHLINE CAN INCITE THE PLAYERS. The officials do a difficult job and without them we would not be playing rugby - remember regardless of what you think they are always right - just accept it and quietly walk away. If you get carded you are letting down your team, even more so if you pick up a ban which is now likely to be extremely lengthy so READ about it HERE TAKE IT IN in and REMEMBER IT DURING THE GAME - do not let down your team and club.
