OC's narrow defeat to Leamington on Saturday 15th September

Leamington 24 Old Coventrians 21 Midlands 2 West(South) Old Coventrians will reflect on this game with frustration. It was there for the taking but errors in passing, overturned ball in the breakdown and an interception gifted Leamington possession and their backs did not squander the opportunities.
Leamington supporters were heard to say they had a lucky escape on the afternoon.
OC's dominated large periods in the game. The set piece was driven putting Leamington under pressure. The driving ruck was excellent. A number of forced changes again this week but the new boys grafted and were up to the job. OC's denied Leamington possession but when the Leamington backs had the ball they looked pacy and skillful.
Skipper Elliot Sheepy fielde OC's own kick off to take the game to Leamington. We are 5 metres out but don't capitalise. A knock on allows Leamington to clear into OC's 22. A Leamington scrum is scrappy but the ball comes to Jim Robertson who crosses for the try which he converts himself. Leamington survive more OC pressure and manage to get the ball wide on the right. The inside pass is latched on to by Tom Lane for Leamingtons second try.
OC's are well in Leamington territory when the ball goes loose. Players thought a Leamington knock on had occurred but a prop picks up and races through and Rich McKwoen snaps up the off load and Leamingtons third try. Jim Robertson converts. OC's are still working hard and rob a Leamington scrum which allows Marc Marren to make a dummy half break and feed Josh James who comes off his wing down the middle for the first OC score. Marc Marren converts.
19-7 at the break.
Disaster strikes early in the second half with OC's making great progress down the right but Leamingtons Gareth Shuttleworth intercepts and races threequarters of the field for the score after seven minutes of the second period.
Leamington would not score again and OC's would score twice. First came an excellent drive from a lineout on the left and Jordan Diston touched down and Marc Marren converted. Laaamington hanging on now and again from a lineout close in, the ball is moved for centre Mark Hyslop to get the touchdown. Marc Marren converts.
OC's run out of time and have to settle for a losing bonus point. Determination and effort were great.

The Archers had victory taken from them in the final two minutes against Leamington 43-49. A Rich Clarke match report is in the fxtures/results section.

The colts were playing at Leamington and they overwhelmed the opposition.
The scoreline was 56-0 at the break and the referee called an end to the proceedings.
There certainly were some skilfull, likely looking lads in the OC's squad.

ABUSE OF MATCH OFFICIALS-SANCTIONS 2018: ALL PLEASE NOTE

Please read and note the latest letter from Warwickshire RFU Disciplinary Committee which sets out increased sanctions. Everyone should read this - not just PLAYERS but SPECTATORS and COACHES as well. PLEASE THINK ABOUT IT: SPECTATORS (you know who you are) BARRACKING FROM THE TOUCHLINE CAN INCITE THE PLAYERS. The officials do a difficult job and without them we would not be playing rugby - remember regardless of what you think they are always right - just accept it and quietly walk away. If you get carded you are letting down your team, even more so if you pick up a ban which is now likely to be extremely lengthy so READ about it HERE TAKE IT IN in and REMEMBER IT DURING THE GAME - do not let down your team and club.
