OC's 40 - Old Leamingtonians 24

This was a game OC's had to win to keep alive promotion hopes and they did in style with a tremendous performance at The Croft against Old Leamingtonians.
There was a lot of intensity and determination in this game from both sides. OL's took the early initiative. The back row drove hard and the threes moved the ball at speed and with confidence but OC's defence was terrific.
We were treated to eight tries in the game, four apiece. OC's would save their four for the second period to run out deserving victors with a gutsy performance.
OL's were first on the score sheet. They had turned down opportunities for a penalty goal a couple of times and it was from one of their linesout following a penalty ten metres out on the right that the score came.. They mauled the ball towards the middle and the try came from a forward break off.
7-0 after ten minutes.
From a lineout on the left George Roberts goes for OC's and then Han (Mohamed Farhan Mohamed Tahir almost makes it but the penalty comes and Alex Telfer takes a cool successful penalty.
7-3 after 15 minutes.
Alex would achieve a 100% kicking record today with four penalties and four conversions. A terrific performance from the fullback. Good hands from Han, Steven Abbey and Jim Ryan gets us close but OL's have infringed and Alex Telfer slots his second penalty from 35 metres after 20 minutes played
7-6 after 20 minutes
Pressure is coming from OL's at a scrum in our 22 but Michael Ryan picks up at the back and goes on a run which JJ(Josh James) and Aaron Tolley carry on down the right OL's infringe at the breakdown and Alex slots his third penalty and we are in the lead.
7-9 after 25 minutes.
OL's retake the initiative and from a lineout close in on the right there is a break off from the maul and their second converted try puts them back in front
14-9 after 25 minutes
OC's get into the OL's 22 but OL's regain possession although another penalty to OC's allows Alex to nail his fourth from a few metres into the OL territory.
14-12 to OL's at the break.
We are 13 minutes into the second period and Han is everywhere putting pressure on the OL backs. George Roberts is in support and carries the move forward. It comes again to Han but he is pulled back chasing his kick ahead and OL's see yellow. From the penalty and lineout on the left OC's drive and Aaron Tolley breaks off for the score.
14-19 after 8 minutes of the period with Alex T adding the extras.
We have a maul, centre field but Scott Parry returning from injury decides to break off and bustles his way over on the left and is able to get a bit closer to the uprights for Alex T to make the conversion.
14-26 after 15 minutes of the period
These are two good sides performing well today and OL's are close on the right. A penalty a lineout and a drive brings them their first points of the half with an unconverted try after 20 minutes.
19-26 after 20 minutes
OL's are stepping it up and moving well in the backs but OC's tackling forces errors and we also rob some good ball at the breakdown. From our own half Han robs the ball again and he has JJ on his right and the winger outstrips defenders . Skipper Elliot Sheepy is on hand to take a pass and he runs the final 20 metres to the line. Once again Alex T is successful with the conversion
19-33 30 minutes into the period.
OC's see yellow for an attempted interception which was adjudged a deliberate knock on. Bad luck Ryan Doherty. We missed his defensive skills and OL's were not finished and they moved the ball left for a try which could not be converted.
24 -33 36 minutes into the period.
It's tense now with the OL recovery and they are encamped in the OC half. Han spoils their possession and jJJ picks up and runs three quarters of the field to outstrip everyone and score between. Alex T finishes off a wonderful kicking performance. His four first half penalties kept us close to OL's two converted tries and created the platform for the bonus point win in the second half. Not singling out any individuals because this was a truly team performance today. Everyone up for it and working for each other..
Still some work to do. Bromyard and Woodrush scalps would help.

ABUSE OF MATCH OFFICIALS-SANCTIONS DOUBLED 2016: ALL PLEASE NOTE

Please read and note the latest letter from Warwickshire RFU Disciplinary Committee which sets out increased sanctions. Everyone should read this - not just PLAYERS but SPECTATORS and COACHES as well. PLEASE THINK ABOUT IT: SPECTATORS (you know who you are) BARRACKING FROM THE TOUCHLINE CAN INCITE THE PLAYERS. The officials do a difficult job and without them we would not be playing rugby - remember regardless of what you think they are always right - just accept it and quietly walk away. If you get carded you are letting down your team, even more so if you pick up a ban which is now likely to be extremely lengthy so READ about it HERE TAKE IT IN in and REMEMBER IT DURING THE GAME - do not let down your team and club.
